Crave inks deal to expand the Letterkenny universe

Deal with New Metric Media will see 49 new episodes of Letterkenny spin-offs, while series creator Jared Keeso is tapped to develop new series

Crave and New Metric Media have inked a new deal to expand the Letterkenny universe.

The multi-year deal was announced Dec. 6 and will see 49 new episodes created for Crave, including Letterkenny spin-offs, and the development of all-new series with Letterkenny creator, Jared Keeso.

“We are excited to break new comedic ground on this landmark pact with creative powerhouse Jared Keeso and our content partners at Crave,” said Mark Montefiore, founder and CEO of New Metric Media, in a news release. “This deal exponentially builds our 360-degree comedy ecosystem strategy for many years to come.”

Letterkenny and its spinoff Shoresy are filmed in Greater Sudbury. The shows have proven immensely popular in Canada and beyond.

The Keeso-created programs regularly seek extras — often with hockey-playing experience — from the surrounding area, including North Bay to round out their productions.

Crave’s first-ever original series, Letterkenny premiered in 2016, quickly attracting a fanbase and becoming a solid hit. There are 81 episodes of the series and eight specials, earning 12 Canadian Screen Awards and a streaming partnership with Hulu. Letterkenny and Shoresy is licensed it in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Germany and Scandinavia.
