Chloë Grace Moretz battles an unexpected enemy in the trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action movie Shadow in the Cloud. Moretz portrays Maude Garrett, a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force who is assigned to a B-17 Flying Fortress under mysterious circumstances. Operating as the safekeeper of a strictly classified piece of cargo, Maude soon comes into contact with a surprising passenger that might endanger the lives of everyone aboard.
The new preview of Shadow in the Cloud highlights Moretz’s character, also drawing attention to the praise that the actress received for her performance in the film. While it doesn’t reveal too much about the story’s central mysteries, the trailer does offer a clear hint about the scary monster that Maude will have to square off against. Directed by Roseanne Liang, who co-wrote the screenplay with Max Landis, Shadow in the Cloud also stars Nick Robinson, Beulah Koale, Taylor John Smith, and Callan Mulvey. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, with critics complimenting the frantically fun pace on display and deft social commentary. Others argued that the film wasn’t quite as successful in bringing all of its disparate elements together. Audiences will have the chance to decide for themselves when Shadow in the Cloud arrives to video on demand starting January 1.
The synopsis for Shadow in the Cloud reads as follows: A female WWII pilot traveling with top secret documents on a B-17 Flying Fortress encounters an evil presence on board the flight.
