Gigi and Bella Hadid have reportedly grown closer following the altercation that took place between Gigi’s boyfriend, singer Zayn Malik, and their mother, Yolanda Hadid.
An inside source told PEOPLE that the sisterly bond between Gigi, 26, and Bella, 25, has only strengthened since the 28-year-old British singer plead no contest to four counts of harassment after allegedly pushing Yolanda, 57, into a dresser and calling her a ‘f*****g Dutch s**t.’
‘Gigi and Bella have grown closer since the Zayn and Yolanda incident,’ the source revealed.
The insider added, ‘Bella has stuck by her [Gigi’s] side, as the situation has caused a lot of tension within the family.’
The source also revealed that the model appreciates how her sister has supported her during this difficult time. ‘Gigi is done with Zayn. She’s a really private person, so Bella has really been there to support her.’
The fallout from the altercation has taken a toll on the entire family according to the source who said, ‘This has not been easy on Gigi and has caused a lot of stress on relationships with her family. It’s been tough on all of them because they’re all so close.’
The complexity of the situation has been made more difficult by the fact that Gigi and Zayn share one-year-old daughter, Khai. Speaking of Gigi’s feelings on the incident the source revealed, ‘That’s her mom, but it’s still her baby’s father, even though their romantic relationship is over.’
The fight between the model’s boyfriend and her mom reportedly took place on September 29, when Yolanda went to the couple’s Pennsylvania farmhouse while Gigi was modeling in Paris.
She encountered Zayn and an argument ensued. During the alleged altercation Zayn is said to have ‘grabbed Yolanda’ and ‘shoved’ her into a dresser.
He also allegedly screamed at her: ‘Stay away from [my] f*****g daughter’ and called her a ‘f*****g Dutch s**t’.
He is said to have called Gigi and yelled into the phone: ‘Strap on some f***ing balls and defend your partner against your f***ing mother in my house.’
Malik was charged with four counts of harassment, to which he pleaded no contest.
He must now complete 360 days probation in addition to completing an anger management class.
The singer must also have no contact with Yolanda, his daughter’s grandmother, or with John McMahon, a security guard for the Hadid family who witnessed the incident and who he also allegedly harassed.
