Riverdale: 8 Fun Facts About KJ Apa & Clara Berry’s Relationship

Ever since Riverdale came out in 2017, fans have been dying to know everything about the talented young cast. A majority of the actors were new to the spotlight and Riverdale was their first big break. KJ Apa (Archie), in particular, was the topic of conversation after nailing such an iconic role. 

The New Zealand native has been known to keep his private life quiet but that changed when he started dating model Clara Berry in 2019 (allegedly). While the couple still keeps their private life off social media (for the main part), they have shared small moments of their life that give fans a peek inside their relationship. 

Things Got Hot In 2019

After the success of season 1 of Riverdale, KJ Apa’s fame exploded. The connection between Riverdale and Archie Comics turned these young actors into overnight sensations. Fans of Apa understandably wanted to know who he was dating, but he kept it quiet. According to Pop Sugar, he has been rumored to be dating actress Britt Robertson and model Corrine Isherwood. But things changed in 2019.

According to Bustle, Apa told Wired that he was “very much in love.” He never disclosed his love’s name but fans suspected it was Berry due to him liking all of her Instagram pictures.

They’re Both Musically Talented

As Archie, KJ Apa has to sing and play guitar throughout Riverdale. Due to how musically inclined the actors appeared, viewers wanted to know if Apa could actually sing or if it was a voice-over. In an interview with Bustle, he admitted he does sing and play the guitar but he relies on professionals for some auto-tune work.

Interestingly, Clara Berry is also interested in music. Elle Australia noted that Berry’s voice can be heard in the song “No-Us-Lova” by Insomni Club. There’s also a picture on Instagram of Berry supporting Apa during a recording session.

They’ve Traveled Through France, Canada, & The US

It’s not known how Berry and Apa got together but it’s obvious that the couple travels the globe for their professions and each other. Apa was born in Auckland, New Zealand, according to The Net Line. Once he made it big, he moved to America for work. Due to his job as an actor, Apa now lives in Los Angeles but he films in Western Canada often for Riverdale.

On the flipside, Berry is a model and influencer from France. Before becoming a model, she was studying fashion in Paris. Now that she and Apa are in a committed relationship, her Instagram proves that she spends most of her time on the West Coast of America.

They Share Pups Together

One of Archie’s best traits is how caring he is to those he loves — including his on-screen pet, Vegas. In real life, Apa is also a dog lover and has had his hands full with dogs. He used to be seen with his two dogs Roko and Keo but these days he’s also seen with Berry’s adorable Pomeranian.

Their pooch even has its own Instagram account (@Nenem.la.vrai) where Berry and Apa dress her up and show her around on their adventures as a little family. Seeing their love for their pets is an adorable part of their relationship.

He’s Her ‘Best Friend’

In February 2021, Berry posted a picture of her and Apa in front of a sunset and wrote “My best friend.” Since it’s assumed that the two began dating in January 2019, they seem closer than ever two years later. Apa has also shared a photo on social media where, according to The Sun, he wrote “Coup de foudre,” or “love at first sight.”

In Riverdale, Apa’s Archie is best friends with Jughead, Veronica, and Betty but if Berry ever wanted to dabble in acting, who’s to say she wouldn’t make a good part of the friend group?

They Announced A Bundle Of Joy In May 2021

In May 2021, Riverdale fans were stunned when Apa dropped a bomb: he and Berry were expecting a baby. It can be hard for fans to separate Apa from his character Archie (which Apa has been open about the frustrations of being judged by his character), so it was difficult to keep Apa’s transformation apart from Archie’s transformation.

Nevertheless, the two shared the news of their pregnancy on social media. Apa posted a picture of the two lounging on their couch without a caption, while Berry posted a clearer picture of her belly with a chef emoji. Funny enough, Apa wrote “She’s pregnant btw” on her picture, according to Teen Vogue. Considering Apa and Berry keep a low profile, no one knew when their baby was due but was excited to watch the couple’s progression into parents.

…And Welcomed A Baby In September 2021

In September 2021, Berry posted a picture of a baby’s hand grasping hers — she and Apa were now parents. The couple gave birth to a baby boy named Sasha Vai Keneti Apa, who was born on September 23, 2021.

The caption read “He is a perfect perfection. I am the luckiest to have now two men of my life, filling my heart with this cosmic gigantic vast love.” Apa has also posted a photo of him and Berry on a walk with their little one, along with him drinking his morning coffee with a sip of her breastmilk.

Are They Married?

Despite Riverdale fans wanting Apa and Camilla Mendes to end up together (to bring their Archie and Veronica dreams alive), it seems like Apa and Berry are the real deal. In fact, Apa referred to Berry as his “wife” on Instagram in October.

In the video, Apa is seen trying Berry’s breastmilk with his coffee. The caption read, “My wife is a milk machine and I love it.” There is no word of a wedding or an engagement but fans are now in a tizzy over the fact that Apa and Berry could have secretly tied the knot.
